The self-financing social security scheme functioning in India is the Employee State Insurance or ESI. Organization with 10 more employees working in can corporate in ESI. Later the number got expanded and thus any organization working with a 10 more employees and paying a salary of 21000/month could register in the ESI.
Medical Benefit: Employees registered under ESI avails a full medical care, along with their family members. On an annual premium od Rs.120 every registered member will be insured with health benefits.
Sickness Benefit: Cash compensation of 70% of the wage is paid to the workers with a certified sickness for about 91 days in a year. The worker with this insurance, has to contribute 78 days in a period of 6 months. Workers can extend the sickness benefit to about 2 years, if suffering from malignant disease.
Maternity Benefit: After Pregnancy, one can apply for about three months of leave which can be extended to another month by submitting the health reports at the rate of full wage subject to contribution for 70 days in the preceding year.
Disablement Benefit: After joining in an insurable employment and with no contribution made 90% of salary is payable as long as the temporary disability continues. For a permanently disablement the benefit is payable at the rate of 90% of wage in the form of monthly payment.
If the employee expires due because of the employment related cause/accident, the rate of 90% of the wage in the form of monthly payment is paid to the nominees of an expired/deceased insured person.
Funeral Benefit: Rs.10000 is paid to the person who performs the last rite from the day one he enters the insurable employment.
Unemployment Allowance: A period of three or more months insured person who then became unemployed due to the shutting of organization, a sudden dismissal to some cause will be paid with an allowance of:

In its effort to provide health insurance to more people, the Government of India has widened its coverage by including the state of Arunachal Pradesh under the ESI scheme, applicable from 1st November 2020.
30th July: A full bench of the Madras High Court has ruled that the ESI Act applies to both aided and unaided educational institutions. The High Court judges passed the order and dismissed the petition filed by All India Private Educational Institutions Associations.
With the use of e-form AGILE (Application for registration of the Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) registration plus Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) registration), one can register for any of these at the time of company registration.
Private, public, and one person company registration under EPFO, ESIC will be executed on the new MCA portal. It simplifies the registration process by using a new web form SPICe+ (Simplified Proforma for Incorporating Company Electronically Plus), integrating 10 services from various departments
With the introduction of SPICe+ form for company incorporation, registrations for EPFO and ESIC shall be compulsory for all organizations registered, and none shall be separately issued by the respective agencies.
